Dr. Mriganka Sekhar Ghosh graduated from Calcutta Medical College in 1955 and obtained Fellowships from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and London in 1963.  He completed M.Ch.Ortho from the University of Liverpool in 1965.  After working in various renowned Orthopaedic & Traumatic Units in United Kingdom, he returned to India in 1966 and joined Christian Medical College & Hospital at Vellore, where he worked as Reader and Head of one of the Orthopaedic Units.  

In November 1969, Dr. Ghosh left Vellore to take up the position of Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon and Hospital Superintendent of Railway Orthopaedic Institute & Research Centre at Howrah, where he worked till 1991, transforming a 50-beded Hospital to an 180-beded Orthopaedic & Traumatic Institute, one of the best in this country.  

At present, he is working as Senior Orthopaedic Consultant at Kothari Medical Centre & Research Institute at Calcutta.  Dr. Ghosh is actively involved in the development of Sports Medicine in India, and has trained batches of medical graduates and para-medical staff as Course Director of Diploma and Certificate Courses in Sports Medicine.  Dr. Ghosh is the Past President of Indian Orthopaedic Association, West Bengal Orthopaedic Association, West Bengal Association of Sport Medicine and Ex-Student Association of Calcutta Medical College.   He is Senior Overseas Fellow of British Orthopaedic Association and reviewer of  Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery( British Volume).  

Dr. Ghosh is actively associated with “Continuing Orthopaedic Education” Programme from its inception.  Dr. Ghosh has also been actively engaged in the practice of A.O.Principles for the management of fractures and correction of deformities since the year 1979 as one of its pioneer in India. He takes great pride in training batches of Orthopaedic Surgeons in the practice of modern Traumatic & Orthopaedic surgery, who are holding prime positions in various institutions in India and abroad.  

Dr. Ghosh had successfully organized the Annual Conference of Indian Orthopaedic Association in 1985, the 1st Asian Conference on Sports Medicine in 1987 at Calcutta. Dr. Ghosh has presented/published nearly 300 articles in various scientific meetings and journals, besides delivering numerous prestigious orations and lectures in various parts of India and abroad. Dr. Ghosh has also conducted several Research Projects in collaboration with Bio-Medical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University and Indian Council of Medical Research.
