Bonnie Chien grew up in Taiwan where her interest in medicine and orthopedic surgery grew from experiences as a child with Chinese bone setting. After finishing college and medical school at Stanford, she is now at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program as a PGY-4 resident.
Having lived abroad, she has always been curious and open to learning new ideas and cultures and has spent extensive time abroad. She visited Tamil Nadu, India to learn about Ayurveda medicine and worked alongside local surgeons in Colombia to perform pediatric orthopedic surgeries.
Her interests in orthopedics include foot and ankle, pediatrics as well as the philosophy and empirical approach to resident education. Outside of orthopedic surgery, she enjoys dance and learning new things, most recently drumming and Spanish.
